You may notice that there are slight differences in the health concerns that can result from alcohol and addiction. For example, someone who uses drugs intravenously is at a higher risk of developing infections such as HIV, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, and Hepatitis C. Drug abuse can lead to lasting changes in our brains, lungs, immune system, heart, and other important organs. Drug use also poses a risk for overdose which can lead to death in some cases.
Individuals who struggle with alcohol addiction are more likely to encounter concerns that result from an inflamed liver. This can include a fatty liver, alcoholic hepatitis, Fibrosis, and Cirrhosis. Alcohol abuse can have a significant impact on our brains, and impact our ability to function normally. Long-term abuse of alcohol or drinking too much in a single episode can have lasting effects on our hearts as well. The medical community recognizes Addiction as a disease. What this means, is that addiction comes from a combination of biological and environmental factors. A 2013 study conducted in Nepal supported previous findings that individuals who struggle with Alcohol Use Disorder are at a higher risk of having a Vitamin D deficiency. Specifically, their feelings of guilt, needing to drink in the morning, and relapsing after completing an addiction treatment program.

This makes sense when we think about common Vitamin D symptoms that include pain and discomfort. This study also showed that a Vitamin D deficiency made symptoms associated with Opioid Use Disorder worse in mice.
Importance of Vitamin D
When we think about Vitamin D, it is becoming more widely known that the sun is the main source of Vitamin D for us. This means that individuals who live in areas of the world with fewer hours of sunlight may be lacking an adequate amount of Vitamin D, as well as individuals who are unable to spend time outdoors during colder seasons.
Vitamin D can also be found in foods such as salmon, sardines, egg yolks, liver, and mushrooms in addition to the sun. However, for many, this may not be enough. Research has shown that a Vitamin D deficiency can cause fatigue, muscle weakness, and other aches.
Vitamin D also plays an important role in our bone health. Vitamin D helps our stomach absorb minerals, such as calcium, that help our bones maintain their strength. Recent studies have shown a newer trend that individuals with lower levels of Vitamin D are at a higher risk for injuries to their ligaments, tendons, cartilage, muscles, and bones in the lower part of their bodies. The participants in this study had a variety of health concerns that lead to their liver disease, none of which was solely alcohol use. It is important to note that one of the participants did receive a liver transplant after taking Metadichol despite changes in their illness from the medicine due to the severity of their liver disease. The dose of Metadichol that patients took varied from case to case. The length of treatment varied as well. One patient used it for 12 weeks, while another used it for 60 weeks. This study illustrates a potential benefit that using NANO SOMA could have with addiction and recovery.
